SOS Children is a non-governmental institution that works to prevent family breakdown and cares for children who have lost parental care, or who risk losing it.

In this project we went to an SOS Village to co-design with the kids their new garden, which shall be later built. The goal of this workshop is to put design tools and methods to develop creative projecting skills of children into practice.

In this one-day workshop, the kids came up with several ideas with the support of mentors who guided them during the brainstorming phase. After that, they validated these ideas with SOS Village administrators by applying interviews. Consequently, they prototyped their designs with simple materials, such as cardboard, fabric, pens, string, sticks, glue and scissors.

Finally, they presented their project "Il nostro Giardino/Our garden" to the SOS Village manager in order to express their needs and wishes and give new ideas to explore the new social space.
